Gif Tutorial using VLC Media Player and Photoshop
I’ve never made a tutorial before, so bear with me.
First of all you want to go into VLC and open your video, whether it be a DVD, or just one that you downloaded.

Then you want to slow the video down using the arrows on the very left, so that the time speed is set at 0.12

Then you can find what part of the video you want to gif, and start taking screencaps. To do that, you do Shift+S. I’m pretty sure it is default to save to your desktop, if you want them to save to a different folder, you can change that in prefrences.

After you have taken your screencaps, go into Photoshop and go File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack.

Then you can click browse, and select all of your screencaps and click OK. Then click OK again.

After you do this, it will begin loading the screencaps one by one, and it may take a minute. Make sure that the Animation bar is open at the bottom by clicking Window > Animation.

Sometimes it will be as a timeline animation. You want it to be in frame animation, so click the button on the right bottom to do this.

Now you want to click the button that I have circled, and click Make Frames From Layers. This will make every layer into a frame. Then click the same button again, and then click Reverse Frames, because when you load your screencaps, they load backwards. Then click that button one more time, and click Select All Frames.

This is how you change the speed of your gif. Usually I will use 0.1 or 0.2 seconds.
After this, you can resize and color your gif to however you want it to look.

When you’re finished and are satisfied with how your gif looks, go to File > Save for Web & Devices.

In this window, you want to look under the gif image, and make sure that the size of the gif is not over 1MB, or it won’t play on Tumblr. And also, you want to make sure that the looping options are set to Forever. Otherwise your gif will only play one time.
Then all you do is click save, and you’re done!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. Like I said, this is my first tutorial, and if I didn’t do a very good job, I’m sorry!
